Thigh Lift / Arm Lift
A THIGH / ARM LIFT PROCEDURE BY SHAHIN FAZILAT, MD: FOR A MORE CONTOURED BODY
A Thigh Lift or Arm Lift (also known as a Brachioplasty), is a popular procedure performed by Dr. Fazilat to remove excess skin and fat from your thigh or upper arm.
Over time, skin loses thickness, elasticity, and adherence to the underlying tissue, especially in the upper arms or thighs. The skin is also affected by gravity and a decrease in the amount of elastic tissue and collagen present in the dermis. Tightening the loose skin with a Thigh Lift results in an improvement in appearance and relief from constant rubbing, while an upper Arm Lift results in a firmer, more youthful look.
The best candidates for Thigh / Arm Lift surgery are those who usually have loose skin in these areas as a result of age, from childbearing, or from a significant weight loss from diet, exercise, or bariatric surgery.
During your initial consultation about a Thigh Lift or Arm Lift with Dr. Fazilat, he will discuss the options and alternatives in great detail. This will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about whether either of these procedures is right for you.
Since Dr. Fazilat specializes in Thigh Lifts and Arm Lifts and many other post-weight loss procedures, he will provide you with an individualized surgical plan that best fits your body type and needs.

About The Operation
Thigh Lift or Arm Lift surgery is a common procedure that Dr. Fazilat performs in his practice. Typically, operations are performed as an out-patient procedure under general anesthesia with a certified anesthesiologist; surgical times are 2 to 3 hours per procedure.
During Thigh Lift surgery, Dr. Fazilat will remove and/or tighten loose and sagging skin from the thigh. During the procedure, an incision is made in the inner thigh along the line where the leg meets the groin and one line from the middle groin region to the middle part of the knee depending on the severity of excess skin. A Thigh Lift results in an improvement in appearance and relief from constant rubbing.
During an Arm Lift procedure, Dr. Fazilat will remove excess skin and fat from the upper arm that develops because of substantial weight loss, weight gain, or the effects of aging, resulting a firmer, more youthful look.
Some of Dr. Fazilat’s patients also have their Thigh Lift or Arm Lift surgery combined with other procedures, such as a Tummy Tuck, laser liposuction, or other body contouring procedures to give your body a more sculpted, natural look.
After Thigh Lift or Arm Lift surgery, our patients are encouraged to walk the evening of your surgery to prevent possible blood clots. Patients can typically return to work within 10 to 14 days, though strenuous activity should be avoided for 4 weeks. The patient should also have an adult stay with them for 24 hours following the surgery to monitor their recovery.
In some cases, drainage tubes may be placed at the incision site to collect excess blood or fluid for 7 to 10 days after surgery. Compression bandages may also be worn to help promote proper healing.
All absorbable sutures are used for Thigh Lift or Arm Lift surgery. Any post-operative pain, swelling and/or sensitivity will commonly diminish over the first few weeks. Finally, scars from Thigh Lift or Arm Lift incisions begin to fade in a few months.
Dr. Fazilat will schedule a follow-up post-recovery office visit to discuss your progress.
