Dr. Fazilat

Dr. Shahin Fazilat is a board certified plastic surgeon who grew up on the east coast and attended University of Maryland at College Park where he graduated with honors.  He then attended the historic Howard University School of Medicine in Washington D.C., and graduated in the top quarter of his class. 

Throughout college and medical school, Dr. Fazilat was awarded and participated in The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fellowship Program.  He worked along side world renowned physicians and researchers.  During his time at the NIH, he conducted numerous independent research projects.  Dr. Fazilat authored and co-authored many journal articles during this time.

Following medical school, Dr. Fazilat received his General Surgery training at The Washington Hospital Center.  It was during this time that his passion and love for plastic surgery flourished.  He was one of the less than ten individuals who matched into a highly competitive field of Plastic Surgery with less than five years of general surgery training.  He completed his plastic surgery training in New York City at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons/Harlem Hospital Program.  During this time he trained with world renowned experts in the field of plastic surgery at Columbia University/Harlem Hospital, Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center, and New York University. 

Upon completion of his plastic surgery training he accepted a fellowship position in hand and microsurgery at Stanford University where he also served as a clinical instructor in hand and plastic surgery.  Dr. Fazilat is currently an adjunct clinical professor in the division of plastic surgery at Stanford University Medical Center. He operates at both Stanford University Hospital and Lucile Slater Packard Children’s Hospital.  In addition, Dr. Fazilat also completed a year long Cosmetic Surgery apprenticeship in Arlington, Virginia where he had to opportunity to work side by side with one of Washington D.C.’s premier plastic surgeons.  Dr. Fazilat is currently a Candidate for Membership in The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Fazilat enjoys all areas of Plastic Surgery.  The focus of his practice is face, breast, and body plastic surgery, with special emphasis on post massive weight loss procedures as well as “mommy makeovers”.  Dr. Fazilat performs body contouring surgeries including abdominoplasties, liposuction, body lifts , arm lifts, and thigh lifts.  He also performs many of the latest breast surgeries including breast reduction with vertical (lollipop) short scar, and breast lift with minimal incision technique.   He sees each patient personally and approaches each patient individually.  Surgeries are customized based on the individual’s needs, physique, desires, and medical necessity.  Dr. Fazilat has operating privileges at Stanford University Hospital, Lucile Slater Packard Children’s Hospital, El Camino Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Sequoia Hospital and number of bay area surgery centers.
