Breast Augmentation (Mammoplasty)

Breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the U.S. Women may elect to have this surgery for many different medical or aesthetic motivations. A breast augmentation can give women with small or unevenly-sized breasts a fuller, firmer, and better proportioned look. It can balance breast size and compensate for reduced breast mass after pregnancy or weight loss.
A breast augmentation can be performed in a few different ways. The implant can be placed under or over the breast muscle through an incision around the areola, under the arm or, most commonly, underneath the breast and just above the natural crease. Dr. Fazilat is very pleased that women now have a choice in selecting between saline or silicone implants.
During your consultation with Dr. Fazilat, he will discuss the options and alternatives in great detail, providing you with all the information you need to make an informed decision. The site of implant placement, site of incision, type and size of implant, and an opportunity to “try on the look” will also be discussed.
Typical surgery time: 1 – 2 hours.
Anesthesia: General.
May be combined with: Breast lift, tummy tuck or liposuction.

Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)
Women with very large breasts find reduction surgery to greatly benefit their life. Large breasts can cause pain, improper posture, rashes, breathing problems, skeletal deformities and low self-esteem. During the procedure, fatty tissue in the breast and glandular tissue are removed with excess skin to produce smaller, lighter, breasts that are in a healthier proportion to the rest of the body.
Depending on each patient and the degree of drooping of the breast, Dr. Fazilat offers his patients the traditional as well as the newer short-scar technique (vertical reduction technique/lollipop technique) for breast reduction. The short-scar technique provides a smaller scar and a reduced chance of breast drooping or flattening over time as is seen with traditional techniques.
Typical surgery time: 2 – 4 hours.
Anesthesia: General.
May be combined with: Liposuction or tummy tuck.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
A breast lift is performed to return youthful shape and lift to breasts that have sagged as a result of weight loss, pregnancy, loss of the skin’s natural elasticity or simply the effects of aging and gravity. The procedure combines the removal of excess breast skin with tightening of the skin.
Dr. Fazilat has extensive training in mastopexy and augmentation mastopexy. He is able to offer his patients short-scar techniques (vertical scar/lollipop technique) to return their breasts to their original youthful shape.
Typical surgery time: 1 – 3 hours.
Anesthesia: General.
May be combined with: Breast reduction, breast augmentation, tummy tuck or liposuction.

Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction restores a natural and symmetrical appearance to the female chest. It maintains body proportion, allows clothes to fit better, and most importantly, boosts self-confidence for women who have lost one or both breasts to mastectomy. Breast reconstruction can also repair asymmetrical breasts that may be caused by a congenital or developmental abnormality.
Dr. Fazilat has special training in oncoplastic microsurgery and can offer his patients the best options for reconstruction including free flap breast reconstruction (using the patient's own tissue from elsewhere in the body). He strives to create a new breast and nipple that resembles the woman’s natural breasts as closely as possible in shape, size, and position.
Typical surgery time: Varies depending on technique.
Anesthesia: General.
May be combined with: Augmentation of opposite breast.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)
Men who feel self-conscious about enlarged breasts may seek breast reduction surgery. The procedure removes fat and glandular tissue from the breasts, and in some cases, excess skin as well. The surgery can be performed either by liposuction, or through an incision around the areola. The result is a flatter, firmer chest.
Typical surgery time: 2 hours.
Anesthesia: General or local.
May be combined with: Liposuction.
